The movie tells the stories of an empty nest couple find out that their adult daughters want to move back home with them. If you think no-longer-empty-nesters Martina (Carrie Preston) and Mike Moore (Patrick Warburton) will rejoice at this news, then you’ve probably never seen Patrick Warburton in a sitcom before.
Patrick Warburton is funny in about everything... but I'd rather get my dose in National Car Rental spots than this tired new sitcom, which is about the sixth to explore what it thinks is a new idea.
Still, if what you're looking for is a painless way to pass the time, you've found it. And if you need more, there's always Preston and Warburton. Two may not count as a crowd, but these two just may be enough for Crowded.
If you're skeptical about getting on board with the freshman series after viewing a premiere that relied on birth control jokes and the idiocy of Stella's boyfriend for laughs, we wouldn't blame you for moving out early.
It's not terrible. If that sounds like faint praise, well, it is. It's a new show that feels very much like an old show. Like shows we've seen umpteen times before.
It's... old-fashioned in a not necessarily good way, schematic, predictable and largely, especially in light of its fine and welcome cast, disappointing.
