In a desperate search to create a follow-up to Joe Swanberg's 2011 film Uncle Kent, Kent Osborne embarks on an increasingly bizarre, genre-mashing trip to Comic-Con as he struggles to create meaningful new works.
Osborne's not really an actor and the film never entirely commits to any conventional notion of a narrative, but both prove beguiling and compelling...Uncle Kent 2 is fearless, farfetched and very funny.
An arch commentary on both worthless indie ramblings and soulless studio sequels, it's also oddly charming, marbling its indie intellectualism with Osborne's goofy humor and aging slacker mournfulness.
