The film revolves around a highly regarded child psychologist, Dr. Carter Nix who suffers from multiple personality disorder consisting of Cain, a street hustler, Josh, a shy 10-year-old boy, and Margo, a middle-aged nanny.
From first scene to the unforgettable final sting, "Raising Cain" is hypnotic in its richly devised spell, starkly realistic fears invaded by haunting spurts of dream logic.
A respectable if overly campy De Palma thriller. Like the director's Body Double, this plays better the second time you watch it.

In a world where Redacted exists, Raising Cain isn't De Palma's least effective picture, but it's damn near close, purposely unreasonable and shockingly leaden all the way.
