This story takes place in prehistoric time when a primitive homo sapiens tribe huddles around a natural fire source for comfort and survival. But after that source is extinguished, tribesmen Naoh, Amoukar, and Gaw are sent out on a 'quest for fire.'
Despite the film's occasional goofy turns, by the end, chances are, you'll be rooting for the Ulam to work out that nifty little stick-rubbing trick for themselves.
''Quest for Fire'' is more than just a hugely enterprising science lesson, although it certainly is that. It's also a touching, funny and suspenseful drama about prehumans.

Not to everyone's taste, certainly, but those of an anthropological bent will appreciate Quest For Fire's admirably detailed portrayal of early man's struggles for survival.
An engaging prehistoric yarn that happily never degenerates into a club and lion skin spinoff of Star Wars and resolutely refuses to bludgeon the viewer with facile or gratuitous effects.
