“Olympus Has Fallen” is an action film revolving around a president kidnapping. It starts when the president is kidnapped by a terrorist known is the person 'is always one step ahead.' After blocking all entrances and taking the White House as a base, he begin a campaign to devastate other important bases. Ironically, Mike Banning who is a premium protector of the president still survives after the attack and succeeds in contacting the Department of Defense. Immediately, the war headquarters of the US gather at the Pentagon to guide and track a campaign that is almost impossible to rescue the president…
[The movie] takes delight in its own unoriginality, dancing on the grave of every loud, dumb, preposterous action film of the past twenty years. Without earning any of it.
Let's be upfront. Olympus Has Fallen is dumb, violent, overlong, jingoistic, racist, predictable, derivative, and whatever other adjectives those with no sense of B-grade fun wish to throw at it.
A typical slab of Hollywood action in which the White House crumbles under attack, the American flag is tattered and tossed aside by baddies, and clichés rise like gods.
