Bond is back and his next mission takes him to Fort Knox, where Auric Goldfinger and his henchman are planning to raid Fort Knox and obliterate the world economy. To save the world once again, Bond will need to become friends with Goldfinger, dodge killer hats and avoid Goldfinger';;s personal pilot, the sexy Pussy Galore. She might not have feelings for Bond, but will 007 help her change her mind?
For 007 fans or action adventure/spy movie fans in general, it really doesn't get much better than "Goldfinger," a tremendous blockbuster that entertains on every level.
A bit much? Yes, but it's meant to be. Like Doctor No and From Russia with Love, the two previous Bond bombshells, this picture is a thriller exuberantly travestied.
Ours not to reason why with "Goldfinger"; ours but to gape and admire; which is very easy and enjoyable until the story's iceberg of extravagance finally appears in its true proportions.
... what they give us in Goldfinger is an excess of-science-fiction fun, a mess of mechanical melodrama and a minimum of bedroom farce.

This 1964 entry is the most enjoyable of the James Bond thrillers starring Sean Connery -- perhaps because it's the most comic and cartoony in look as well as conception.
GOLDFINGER, for me, isn't the perfect Bond movie (though it does have all the elements to be perfect), but it's still a fun, corny time. Definition of a popcorn movie.
[VIDEO ESSAY] "Goldfinger" set in stone the formula for what would become cinema's longest running and most reliably entertaining franchise. Regardless of how many installments have come since, "Goldfinger" retains its reputation as the best of the bunch.
