Brunette Valerie Malone was a villainess on Beverly Hills 90210 from 1995 to 1998 (seasons five through nine). Her family had been friends with the Walshes in Minnesota, and she was sent to live with them in California following the suicide of her father. While in California, she would attend the fictional California University, which she later graduated from with the rest of the characters. Initially appearing sweet and charming, Valerie was actually deceitful and manipulative. She enjoyed concurrent affairs with Steve Sanders and Dylan McKay, eventually helping the latter to regain his stolen fortune. With the reward money she claimed for this she bought a night club, the Peach Pit After Dark and her trademark car, an Acura NSX.Valerie quickly became enemies with Kelly Taylor, who mistrusted her (usually with good reason). At the end of her first season on the show, Valerie manipulated her way back into everyone's good books by having her visiting friend Ginger steal from them all, and then calling her out on it. This later blew up in her face when Valerie began a more-or-less serious relationship with David Silver and Ginger returned, blackmailing her by threatening to reveal Valerie's actions unless she was given $50,000 or a night with David. After splitting from David over this, Valerie began a relationship with Colin Robbins, an artist who was also Kelly's ex. Colin was a drug addict who was arrested for cocaine posession. Valerie almost lost her club when she put it up as bail collateral for him when he was sentenced to jail and disappeared, but he was found in time to save it.Valerie then had an affair with a married accountant and pretended to be pregnant in order to extort money from him. Brandon made her give it back. Her life then spiralled out of control as her mother decided against attending her university graduation and Brandon asked her to leave the house as Kelly was moving in. Having also just lost her nightclub and all her money to a con artist after attempting to go into business with Kelly's father (mostly to annoy Kelly), Valerie attempted suicide, but was stopped by Brandon, who allowed her to stay at the house after all.She then began a relationship with Noah Hunter, a wealthy young man the gang met while on holiday. However, when she awoke to find she had been drugged and had had sex with him while under the influence of drugs, she accused Noah of date-rape. Rohypnol was found in her system and the case went to court, with half the gang believing her story and the other half thinking she was manipulating the whole scheme to get money out of Noah. Eventually it was revealled that Noah's brother had in fact drugged her.Val got back together (briefly) with David, who left her when she refused to donate bone marrow to a child molester. She then had a fling with a man who was (unknown to her) HIV positive, and had an AIDS scare, although she was ultimately found to be clear of the disease. These events, combined with Noah's alcoholism brought some of her repressed memories back to the surface, and it was revealed that Valerie had actually been molested by her father, and that he had not actually committed suicide - she had shot and killed him.Although at first her mother said she would neither forgive Valerie nor turn her in for the crime, when Valerie planned to turn herself in, her mother eventually relented and forgave her. Valerie left Los Angeles to live in Buffalo with her mother, where they planned to undergo therapy together and try to rebuild their lives. She returned briefly in the series finale in 2000 (season ten) at Donna's bachelorette party, where it was revealled that she was living a more stable life, undergoing counselling and was in a stable romantic relationship.
