The Travel Agent is one of the many actors employed to try and keep Truman from leaving the TV set in which he lives. She works in an agency decorated with posters illustrating the hazards you could face if you try to travel - terrorists, electric storms and so on - placed there to try and dissuade Truman from travelling. He visits her to try and book a flight to Fiji, but she checks on the computer and tells him that there won't be a flight available for at least a month. She asks if he would like to book a flight anyway (hoping, of course, that he won't, since he cannot ever leave Seahaven), but he declines.
