Christof is the creator of one of the most successful television shows ever: The Truman Show. Christof's concept of following the life of a person from birth to death was unprecedented. The idea being that the only 'true' person on the show is Truman Burbank, and everyone him and the show's setting is a fabrication.Snags did come up during the creation of the show, and one of these was Truman Burbank's aspirations to be an explorer. A number of methods were attempted, before Christof used a boating adventure to 'simulate' the death of Truman's father. This ended up giving Truman a phobia of the water, keeping him land-locked on Sea Haven Island, but still longing for adventure.Another snag were the appearances of uninvited people to the set, who attempted to expose Truman to the truth. The one who came the closest was a woman named Sylvia, who actually caught Truman's eye. However, she was eventually detained and removed from the set...but not before she had made a lasting impression in Truman's mind. The show continued on for some time, with Christof structuring it so that Truman would marry a woman named Meryl, in the hopes that the show would continue on with Truman's child. It was during the 30th year of the show that snags began to be seen, and the actor who played Truman's father snuck back onto the set, causing turmoil to the 'story' of the show. After the actor was detained, Christof decided to re-introduce Truman's father back into the story, claiming he had survived the boat accident, and come down with a case of amnesia, which explained his absence from the show. After this touching moment, Christof took part in a television interview, in which one of his callers was Sylvia, berating him on the air for making a mockery of Truman's life. Christof explained that his motives were purely to give Truman a normal life, and that if he ever did find the truth about his existence, he wouldn't be able to be stopped. Christof ended the call saying that it seemed that Truman preferred his life as it was. However, the next day, after it seemed that Truman's life is back to normal, Christof and his associates find that Truman has disappeared, leading to the first time in 30 years that the show's transmission is cut.A search is put out, before Christof signals the sun to rise, even though the time is not right for it. As the search on land yields no results, Christof wants the water and harbor cameras used. His assumption is correct, and Truman is seen sailing away in a boat.Christof has a storm started to try and get Truman to turn back, but Truman is defiant, shouting to the storm that he won't be deterred. Angered at this act of defiance, Christof has the storm turned up to a higher level. After almost drowning Truman, he orders the storm to be stopped. With the end of the storm, Truman eventually finds his way to an exit on the edge of the studio set.Christof makes an impassioned plea for Truman to reconsider, but does so under the guise of a booming, almighty voice from the sky. Even so, Truman decides to go off into the unknown, and Christof finds his television show over.
