Scrooge McDuck is the Uncle of the famous Disney character, Donald Duck. He was created by comic book artist Carl Barks in 1947. He is named after the miserly Ebeneezer Scrooge, from a Christmas Carol, and even played him in Mickey's Christmas Carol. Banks himself has said that Scrooge's character, though is more based on Andrew Carnegie, who was born in Scotland, immigrated to the United States as a teenager and became a rich industrialist and philantropist. Scrooge made his first apperence in December 1947 in a comic story called Christmas on Bear Mountain , over the next several years Scrooge appeared more and more a became a popular character. He is The Richest Duck in the World (according to Forbes magazine in 2006, he is the third richest fictional character only behind Oliver Warbucks and Mr. Burns)and is worth five multiplujillion, nine impossibidillion, seven fantasticatrillion dollars and sixteen cents according to his creators and often likes to go swimming in his money. In 1987, Scrooge landed a starring role, alongside his three grandnephews, Huey, Dewey, and Louie in the animated series DuckTales which was based on Banks' comics.
