Max Goof is the son of Goofy in Disney cartoons of the present-day. Max is one of the few Disney characters to actually age in real time. He progresses from a kid of 11 to a teenager to college young adult. His first appearance is in GOOF TROOP, although his youngest appearance is in MICKEY'S ONCE UPON A CHRISTMAS (Baby pictures of Max appear in GOOF TROOP'S Leader of the Pack , AN EXTREMELY GOOFY MOVIE, HOUSE OF MOUSE'S Max's Embarrassing Date and MICKEY'S TWICE UPON A CHRISTMAS).Although Max is based on Junior from Goofy's 'George Geef/Everyman' shorts of the 1950s, he is a different character in looks and personality. He possesses his father's long ears, long nose, teeth, and skin color or fur (although this has shifted from black to flesh-color in GOOF TROOP, finally being black for the remainder of his appearances). In GOOF TROOP, he also has smaller eyes and eyebrows like his father, but has retained this look even though Goofy returned to his classic 'big eyes' look. Unlike Goofy, Max has hair on his scalp. Physically he has his father's slender build, though he is shorter. Unlike Junior, Max has a more three-dimensional personality with good and bad traits. Although he can be arrogant, judgmental, short-tempered, and insecure, Max can also be loyal, kind, friendly, and determined. In contrast to his father's clumsiness, Max is an excellent skateboard rider.Little is known about Max's mother. It appears that Max hardly knew his mother, meaning Goofy has been a single parent for most of Max's life. His best friend is Pete Jr. or P.J. for short. His first girlfriend was Roxanne in his teenage years, although recently he is romantically involved with a girl named Mona.Max's relationship with his father Goofy has gone through many changes in the years. In his childhood, Max was devoted to his father, with a close bond that sometimes resembled a friendship where father-and-son supported each other. By adolescence, Max found his father's clumsiness and happy-go-lucky attitude an embarrassment, which made him wary to any resemblance to Goofy. This has led to Max showing frustration and hostility toward his kind and compassionate father. Despite his issues, however, Max still loves his father, and has many times learned to appreciate the person Goofy is, as well as the paternal love and support he has given to him.In HOUSE OF MOUSE, Max is valet. His last appearance to date is in MICKEY'S TWICE UPON A CHRISTMAS.
