Robert Barone is the older brother of Ray Barone and the son of Frank and Marie Barone. He is a police officer and a tall, fairly awkward fellow who loves his little brother but is pretty jealous of the kind of attention and adoration he gets -- particularly from their mother. Robert also feels insecure and inadequate compared to Ray on a professional level, feeling as though Ray has achieved more. The two brothers often fight and pick on each other like they're children, but Robert truly loves and respects Ray. He is a caring uncle to Ray's children and is seen defending his little brother when others speak badly of him. Robert thinks Ray is a solid father, even if he follows in the pattern set by his own father of working too much and not engaging with his children enough. Robert has a strong relationship with Ray's wife Debra, as well, as the two often talk each other through problems they are facing.Robert is divorced and is generally unlucky at love. He's 6-foot-8 and has a string of quirks, such as a habit of touching his food to his chin before he eats it. Robert dates Debra's best friend Amy, with whom he has an on-again, off-again relationship.
