Portrayed by renowned actress Isabella Rosselini, the daughter of Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rosselini.Merlin's lifelong love, Nimue, whose face was scarred from what appears to be burns, gazes into the magical mirror which transformed the character Morgan Le Fey from a silly looking child to the beautiful and seductive half-sister of Artuhur played by Helena Bonham Carter. Nimue is also transformed and appears as the young and beautiful, non-scarred Rosselini. The transformation does not last, so Nimue ultimately calls on the witch to make her whole again , which is done with a condition: You agree to live with him (Merlin) in a place of my choosing . If she goes, she can never leave it. The temptation to regain her beauty and to be with her love Merlin again is overwhelming, so she agrees. It is promised that Merlin will come come to her there. The transformation and transportation are complete. She is transported to the Door of Magic .The witch tells Merlin where she is, but the catch is...he must give up his powers and his staff to be with Nimue. Merlin tells Arthur, and they say their good-byes.Merlin seeks out his love, the now transformed Nimue, but realizes that the place is a magical place of the witch's doing and was a trap to isolate him and his powers from Arthur. He hears a scream which is Arthur and Mordred, in battle. He knows he must leave Nimue to help Arthur, who has just been stabbed by Mordred. Arthur kills Mordred with Excalibur. As Merlin leaves her, the portal to Nimue is closed and locked. Nimue is imprisoned there forever.Merlin finds the dying Arthur and takes Excalibur back to the lake. He throws Excalibur into the lake and screams at the Lady of the Lake, You lied to me . She discloses that Lancelot was not the one pure in heart who was to defend Arthur. He had merely made the assumption himself. It was the boy, Galahad, who was the key, unblemished man, per of heart.Nevertheless, Merlin, feeling betrayed, seeks out the witch, Mabb, to get revenge. The battle is between just these two. Recalling her own words, When one is forgotten, they cease to exist , so he does just that...he forgets her. She fades away. I have won , he says. (Deux ex machina?)Galahad returns with the Holy Grail. The realm returns to its former glory. It's then revealed that the entire story was being recalled by the very old Merlin to a group of children. Frik, played by Martin Short, jokes with him about the story, but then reveals to him where Nimue is, claiming that he likes happy endings . (Deux ex machina?) With the death of the witch, the portal is evidently open once again.Merlin again finds Nimue, his love, and using his last trick , he transforms them both into their younger selves, and they live happily ever after. (Deux...never mind! :).This was a nice Hallmark made for TV movie. It's actually captivating and brings an interesting twist to the age defying story of King Arthur.
