The Remake The Original Series In A Nightmare on Elm Street, Nancy Thompson (portrayed by Heather Langenkamp) is a teenage girl that lives at 1428 Elm Street with her mother. Her boyfriend, Glen Lantz (Johnny Depp), lives across the street and he uses the rose trellis to climb into her room. Her parents are recently divorced, but maintain a civil relationship to discuss the well-being of Nancy. Her and her friends begin to have strange nightmares that have the same burnt man in them. One night while sleeping over a friends house, that friend is mysteriously murdered in her sleep. The police, as well as her father, Lt. Donald Thompson (John Saxon), feel that it was her friends boyfriend. However, Nancy believes that there is some sort of connection to the dreams and her friends death. She finally learns the name of the burnt man, Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund), after pulling his hat out of a dream. Nancy gets the truth out of her mother about the burnt man Fred; he was a twisted man who killed many children. He was almost sent away, but got off due to a technicality. So the parents of Elm Street followed him to factory and burnt the place down. Nancy then realizes she has to attempt pulling Fred out of her dream to finally end all of the chaos. When she is the last one left, Nancy pulls Fred out and burns him alive. That does not stop him, though, and he ends up killing her mother. Nancy realizes the real way to get rid of Fred is to take all his energy away from him by deciding to ignore his existence. It works and her old life (with her friends) is restored, but Freddy somehow comes back to attack her and her friends again. In A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2: Freddy's Revenge, Nancy does not make an appearance at all. She is briefly mentioned by the people living in her house. Her diary is found by the teenage boy living in her room who is also experiencing haunting nightmares from Freddy. It is supposedly five years after the events in the first film, the whereabouts of Nancy and whether or not she is dead or alive are never mentioned. In A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors, Nancy returns as an older and more grounded young adult. Her mother is deceased and she is estranged from her father, who was kicked off the force and turned to drinking. She has devoted her life to working on dreams and understanding them, as well as preventing them. In order to prevent herself from dreaming, she takes a medication called Hypnocil. It is a drug not approved by the FDA and is not entirely legal. Nancy tries to help a group of troubled teens that reside in a psychiatric institution who are having horrible nightmares. She grows a significant bond with Kristen Parker (Patricia Arquette) after the girl pulls Nancy into her dream. Nancy realizes that Kristens ability is something that could be very useful in order to stop Freddy. They form a bond to keep from falling victim to him and his evil ways, but when Nancy is fired for her unorthodox practices the deaths pile up. She gets back just in time to save Kristen and the few who are left. Nancy and the others think they have stopped Freddy and then her father appears to her in the dream realm as a spirit. He had actually just been killed in the real world and told Nancy he was sorry for everything. Just as she went to hug him, he turns into Freddy and stabs her with his knife glove. Freddy is stopped just after wounding Nancy, but it was too late. Kristen uses her abilities to send Nancys soul into a beautiful dream where she will live on forever. In New Nightmare, Heather Langenkamp appears as herself. It is set 10 years after the original movie and a big anniversary film is gearing up for her to return as Nancy Thompson. She is married and has a son, as well as a very hectic schedule. Soon into the movie, her husband is killed in a car accident and from then on her life spirals into a real-life nightmare. Heather discovers that a dream demon has taken the persona of Freddy Krueger to haunt the real-life actors from the series. She has to fight for her life as people around her are beginning to die and her son is being lured in by Freddy. Heather enters a real dream realm to retrieve her son; they push the demon into an oven and destroy him and his reality. After waking up, Nancy finds a copy of the script for the movie declaring that its just a story before reading it to her son.-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The Remake In A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010), Nancy Holbrook (portrayed by Rooney Mara) is a teenage girl who lives with her mother and works at a diner.
