Young Mike Ross is known as one of the very best lawyers in New York City -- despite not actually having a law degree.Mike was raised by his paternal grandmother, Edith Ross, after the untimely death of his parents. A brilliant student growing up, Mike is aided by a photographic memory that made studying all but meaningless. Unfortunately, all that extra time on his hands let to trouble as Mike was expelled at school for memorizing a test -- the answers of which were then sold. He started smoking pot with his longtime friend Trevor, not a wonderful influence, and took a job as a bike messenger. Later, Mike saw a way to capitalize on his law background and total recall abilities and began taking the LSAT for other people for a healthy fee.That scam ended abruptly and, quite by accident, Mike found himself being interviewed for an associate position under Harvey Specter, a partner at Pearson Darby Specter. Impressed by Mike's obvious intelligence and ability to think on his feet, Harvey hires him despite his limited schooling.
