Mayella is the young woman who claimed she was taken advantage of (that is raped) by negro Tom Robinson. Witness accounts say she was pretty beat up , with a black eye, finger marks on her neck and facial bruises, but no doctor was called. She claimed she fought and she hollered during the attack.
