While virtually every bit of worthy evidence supports Robinson's being innocent, the vast majority of the town assumes that he is guilty, and resents Atticus for attempting to tell them otherwise. Atticus and his children, especially his young daughter Scout, are constantly harassed for the choice to side with a negro.Atticus is often considered to be the ideal man. His courage to stand up for what is right even when he stands alone, his love and compassion for his children, his integrity and his humility are some of the attributes that have made him beloved by fans worldwide.Atticus was a reluctant hero.
