Amanda 'Mandy' Maguire (born 26th August 1988, Salford, Manchester- May 5th 2009) is the only daughter of Patrick 'Paddy' Donal Maguire and his wife Katherine Mary Joy Maguire (Known as Mimi) she has 5 brothers Fergal, Donny, Joey, Shane, Jamie and Mickey as well as an unnamed sibling who was born to her mother at the end of Season 7. Her best friend is Karen Jackson, who became her sister in law in series 4 after marrying Mandy's older brother Jamie. She has a daughter, (born 2006) named Katie ( Katherine, after Mandy's mother and maternal Grandmother) with her former boyfriend Philip 'Lip' Gallagher. In Season 6 (2009) aged 21 Mandy was killed in an explosion by a mentally unstable woman who held a grudge against Mandy' father Paddy. Her daughter lived with Mandy's parents until Lip graduated university whereupon Mimi took Katie back to her real father.Mandy is the Maguire's 'Princess' and a Daddy's Girl as evidenced by Mimi saying that Mandy's first word was 'Da' and also after a blazing row that saw Mandy move in with the Gallaghers, her father still financially supported her. Paddy also describes her to Karen as his 'babygirl' as they both grieve openly during Karen's mental breakdown. She developed a crush on Ian Gallagher in Season 1 and sent her Dad after him when he turned her down, she started sleeping with Lip and discovered Ian's homosexuality and acted as his cover. Later she became pregnant she initially told her mother that the father was Ian Gallagher, Torn apart by the guilt of seeing the Maguire family force Ian to marry Mandy before she started to show, Lip publicly declared he was the father and everyone believed he had been sleeping with his brothers girlfriend.Mandy began seeing Joe Pritchard, an accountant, in season 7. He had sex with her sister in law Karen, twice (and may be the father of Mandy's nephew Conner) and used to beat Mandy until Karen told Jamie and Jamie beat him into a coma. Joe recovered and Mimi took the blame so that ex-con Jamie wouldn't go to prison. The Maguire men visited Joe in hospital threatning to finish the job on Joe if he hurt Mandy again.In the final episode of Season 6, Mandy dies when Maureen, who bears a grudge against Paddy for supplying her daughter with heroin, Maureen sabotages a gas pipe in her house and attempts to light a match, Mandy wrests the matches and runs to the door where her father and brother Mickey are coming up to the door. As Mickey presses the doorbell, Maureen lights a match and the house explodes, killing Mandy and throwing Paddy and Mickey across the street.At Mandy's wake Mickey, admitted that he felt responsible for Mandy's death.
