Lorna Soliday, played admirably by Sherry Miller, is the aptly named lonely middle-aged lawyer (forlorn and solitary) and godmother of the young man who is the focus of the investigation in the Warehouse 13 pilot episode. By way of her relationship with an Italian professor (her philandering lover?), she receives the McGuffin (Lucretia Borgia's fairly authentic-looking hair comb) and becomes possessed of the demonic power of the Renaissance sorceress (as Lucretia Borgia is portrayed here). Lucretia Borgia was in reality the illegitimate daughter of Rodrigo Borgia, better known as Pope Alexander VI and sister to Cesare Borgia. More a pawn in the political games of the men in her life, Lucretia is much maligned in the present day in many unflattering books and films but, come on, in those days the nobility were always attempting to poison each other after twisted sex.
