But Edward, already king but mortally ill, changed his will surpassing both his half sisters in his device of the succession . He wanted to pass his crown after his death to Frances Brandon who would pass it to her daughter Jane.Jane was named after Jane Seymour, the queen and wife of Henry VIII who gave birth to Edward on the same day she was born. The disappointment of Frances Brandon for giving birth to a daughter instead of a son was felt by her throughout her life. But King Henry's son came at a very high price.
