Kim yong travelled to LA to work in the movie industry, where he became an intern for a bigshot movie producer named Bennet. Timid and very naive, Kim Yong always looked to his superior Bennet for guidance, even when LA was affected by an outbreak of the T-virus, which mutated its victims into flesh eating zombies. The two men were able to seek refuge in an abandoned prison, but Bennet never lost his arrogance and continued to act like he was above all the other survivors who had taken up residence in the prison. When a small plane crashlanded on the prison roof, piloted by Alice who was searching for other survivors along with Claire Redfield, Kim Yong and the others hoped that she could save them, but they had no chance of safely flying everyone to safety on such a small plane, with such a restricted area to land and take off from. Then things took a turn for the worse, when the prison was attacked from inside by zombies which had burrowed under the ground, and a monstrous figure began attacking the main entrance, wielding a gigantic axe. At the advice of a prisoner named Chris Redfield, Kim Yong, Bennet and a mechanic named Angel Ortiz tried to salvage a tank which had been left behind by Chris' military unit, but unfortunately a vital part of the tank had been dissembled, and Angel admitted the repair job would take too long. Bennet became angry and shot Angel in the head. He then headed to the rooftop and tried to escape on alice's plain. He invited Kim Yong to join him in the passenger seat, but Kim was so appalled at Bennet for sacrificing one of their friends, that he refused to leave with him. Bennet then drove the plain from the rooftop and was barely able to make his escape. Kim then joined the other survivors, who were now going to escape using the passages which the the zombies had burrowed through. Kim was too nervous to descend into the drak caves, and Claire Redfield try to calm him, but by this time, the monstrous axeman had caugth up with them, and he sliced Kim in half his large axe. Alice and Claire managed to defeat the axeman and escape, but they had to deliver the sad news to the other survivors that Kim didn't make it.
