Joseph Byrne was a cardiothoracic registrar on Holby City General Hospital's Darwin ward from 2006 until 2011. His biggest storylines include a relationship with Jac Naylor, who later got dumped by Joseph when he found out that Jac has been seeing Joseph's father, Charles, Lord Byrne (who later died of heart failure); relationship (and later marriage) with ward sister Faye Morton (later Byrne); Joseph's antagonistic relationship with AAU consultant Linden Cullen when he starts seeing Faye; and Faye's pregnancy when their marriage is falling apart. He ultimately leaves the hospital with his son, Harry, to become the head of a GP clinic in Penrith.
