Irene (Betsy Rue) is at a party in the mines one year after the mining disaster that left 5 miners dead. As Irene and her boyfriend Axel Palmer (Kerr Smith) and friend Sarah (Jaime King) enter the mine, their other friend Tom Hanniger (Jensen Ackles) waits behind at the car to get more beer. Sarah is eventually seperated from the others and witnesses the murder of another partier. As Sarah tries to escape, she reunites with Irene and Axel. The trio hide from Harry Warden (Richard John Walters), who is killing the partiers at the mine. Warden eventually see's them and they quickly flee as he chases them. Tom, who is just entering the mines is hit by Wardens pickaxe, injuring him, causing the others to leave him behind. As Irene, Sarah and Axel rush into their car, Warden throws a pickaxe that smashes into the front window, however does not harm anyone.Ten years later, Irene no longer stays in contact with her old friends, however happens to be staying at the same motel as Tom with her boyfriend Frank (Todd Farmer). After the pair have nosiy sex the rest of the motel can hear, Irene is enraged to discover Frank recorded it. He leaves, causing Irene to grab a gun and follow him into the parking lot fully nude. As Frank laughs her off, she throws the gun at him, injuring him. As Frank attempts to leave in his truck, the killer stabs him in the head with a pickaxe. Irene screams before running to the motel office. Here she finds a phone, and calls the police. After just getting through, she panics seeing the miner come and hides in the managers room under a bed just as the miner enters. The miner checks the wardrobe and doesnt find her, and is about to give up when the manager, Rosa (Joy de la Paz) of the motel enters trying to find her dog. She checks the wardrobe, but finds the miner instead who swiftly kills her with his pickaxe. Irene lets out a scream and is discovered under the bed. The minter attempts to pull her out from under it but Irene manages to kick him away. The miner then takes the matress off the bed, leaving only a metal frame covering Irene. She gets up and uses the frame as a shield. The miner corners her and begins to stab the pickaxe through the mesh of the frame. Irene dodges it a few times, but inevitably is stabbed in the torso. Her body is later discovered in a bathtub with her heart scooped out. At the end of the movie it is revealed Irene and the other victims were murdered by an insane Tom. Show less «
