In the novel, as time goes on they all grow up with a dark secret, blaming themselves for the grisly accidental death of Duddits's bully Richie Grenadeau. It is because of this that they have all eventually grown apart from Duddits.In the opening scenes of Dreamcatcher, Henry attempts to kill himself in his office after reaching into the mind of a suffering patient and driving him away. A year later, after Jonesy's accident, it becomes apparent that Henry's patient committed suicide after the incident at the office.His life later unknowingly saved by a car accident, he attempts to reach his friends' cabin Hole in the Wall on the Jefferson Tract, only to witness death and to come face to face with the Shit Weasel that killed one of his friends. Killing the alien, it becomes solely Henry's job to hunt down the mysterious Mr Grey, which will involve escaping the insane Colonel Curtis's quarantine zone and visiting Duddits to ask for help, with the assistance of Owen Underhill.
