Cristal was introduced in the 1995 film Showgirls , where she debuted at the Stardust Hotel in Las vegas as the featured dancer in a lavish topless dance revue entitled Goddess . As stated in the film, her real name was Chrissie Lou Connors, and she hailed from Texas. She changed her name to Cristal, taking her new name from the expensive champagne.At the beginning of the film, Cristal was just making her first appearance in Goddess , which was greeted by much fanfare and attention from the press. Through her seamstress Molly, Cristal met a young woman named Nomi Malone; upon their introduction, Cristal mildly belittled her career as a dancer in the sleazy strip joint Cheetah's Topless Club, causing Nomi to become furious. Cristal was bisexual, and she was intrigued by Nomi's fiery personality as well as her body. Cristal set out to prove that Nomi was for sale, first by visiting the Cheetah and paying Nomi $500 to give a lap dance to Cristal's boyfriend Zach, the entertainment director for the Stardust. Eventually, Cristal started to toy with Nomi even further, getting her an audition for Goddess and subjecting her to further humiliation from the show's director.When Nomi got the part, Cristal called a truce with her and took her to lunch at the expensive and fabulous Spago restaurant. Cristal revealed to Nomi that she originated from humble beginnings in Texas, and had breast enhancement surgery to make herself more sexually attractive. Both she and Nomi discovered they'd both eaten dog food at some point in their lives, and enjoyed it. The friendship between Nomi and Cristal was short-lived, however, when Nomi began to intrude on both her relationship with Zach and Cristal's position as the star of the show. After reviving their rivalry, Nomi secured a spot as Cristal's understudy, causing Cristal to threaten to leave the show. The producers reversed their decision and denied Nomi the spot. In response, Nomi pushed Cristal down a large flight of stairs, injuring her and taking her lead in the show. Cristal, who was hospitalized for her broken bones, accepted her fate and was happy enough to get a large settlement from the Stardust for the remainder of her contract. When Nomi visited her in the hospital before fleeing Las Vegas, Cristal forgave her for what she did, and Nomi granted her one passionate kiss before leaving.Cristal was last seen in her hospital bed, after surrendering her signature cowboy hat to Nomi.
