Bughuul (or as some viewers know him, Baghul, Bugul or Mr. Boogie), is the antagonist of the Sinister film franchise.Bughuul is a Pagan deity who targets children by appearing in various images and media forms, taking their souls and possessing them to kill their families. He gets the children to drug their families and then he records the disturbing murders. Children look up to him, unknowing that he is slowly eating their souls and trapping them with him forever.Bughuul's seemingly preferred medium to capture murders and project his image through is super 8 film, invented by the Eastman Kodak company in 1965. In Sinister 2, he appears in other formats, like 16mm film, vinyl records, radio waves and photographs. He easily manipulates digital media, as seen in the first Sinister film.Bughuul looks somewhat like a Gothic man, with long black hair, no mouth, nose or eyes (though he has marks where these features should be), and he dresses in a dark overcoat. Bughuul translates back to Boogeyman .Bughuul has very little, if any, of a personality, though he displays rather sadistic humor in the labeling of his super 8 movies (Pool Party, Family Hanging Out, etc.)Similar fictional characters include Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King's IT, Mearth from the fiction novel Smog City, Slenderman from the Creepypasta internet trend and the psychotic mystery murderer from the novel Syndrome E.Bughuul was designed by C. Robert Cargill. Show less «
