William Bill Fontaine De la Tour D'Haute Rive is a fictional character on the animated series King of the Hill. He comes from an upper-class, Cajun family; his surname is French for Fountain of the Tower of the Upper Bank . Bill attended Arlen High School with Hank, Dale, and Boomhauer, where he was a ladies man and star player on the football team. His classmates referred to him as The Billdozer . Bill never officially graduated high school, deciding to enlist in the army as a barber instead, a job he keeps throughout the run of the series.Bill is perpetually depressed and seems to have no real friendships outside of Dale, Boomhauer, and Hank, who he idolizes to the point that he believes the two will one day share a cloud in heaven. Bill was married to Lenore, but she left him on Christmas Eve and he has had a few romantic relationships since, including one with Texas Governor Ann Richards.Despite his flaws, Bill is a loyal friend and caring person. He once set up a Christmas-themed play area at his home for kids, and took in and tried to nurture a troubled young man. He is also a very talented barber, and at one point earned the patronage of Hank until he discovered that the army charges $900 for a haircut.Bill harbors a strong crush on Peggy. He once admitted to having sex dreams about her, and to making a vest out of her underwear. After Peggy's sky-diving accident, Bill stole her body cast and put a picture of her on top of it. Bill seems to desire Peggy as much as she is repulsed by him.Bill is highly accident-prone, frequently tripping or getting hit with things. He apparently has a habit of getting drunk and calling into the Jewelry Channel. During one such instance, they put him on the air, and he cried.Bill is voiced by Stephen Root.
