Andrew Van De Kamp is Rex and Bree's firstborn son, and by the way brother of Danielle, no love being lost between siblings. Andrew inherited enough good qualities for a promising future, being smart, slick and a scholarship-class swimmer, but while Rex is a loving, understanding father, perfectionist Bree makes even more impossible demands on their heir then on everybody else, enough pressure to make any kid crack as she keeps cracking the whip. So teenage rebellion will become just that: a ruthless battle to fully throw of the shackles of stifling parental authority which grows even worse, being unbalanced, after her affair with undesirable potential step-father George leads that psycho to poison poor pa Rex. Meanwhile free-spirited Andrew and alas intolerant appearance-freak Bree discovered the boy's fancy is boys, starting with John's gentle, timid roommate Justin, who becomes Andrew's hesitant lover and cahoot in schemes to outscheme Bree's relentless attempts to (re)assert her tyrannical authority while he aims at emancipation at 17, Rex's trustfund would then add financial independence. In time, an apparently irreconcialiable conflict is bridged by the mystery of family feeling, and Andrew starts a new life as model citizen, student and employee at Tom and Lynette Scavo's pizzeria, where a single smart cool-kep head is much needed.
