Feisty, wisecracking Aiden Burn was a Detective Third Class and CSI with the NYPD. A Brooklyn native of Italian heritage, she and her police partner, Staten Island-raised Detective Danny Messer, were as useful for their street-smarts and intimate knowledge of the city, as their skills as officers and lab techs.Quick with her tongue and not afraid to use it, Aiden chanelled her endless energy into fighting crime wherever she saw it. While she sometimes rebelled in private against Lab Supervisor Mac Taylor's occasional corrections, she and the team shared a deep respect, and she enjoyed a bantering sibling-like friendship with her partner Danny, for whom she sometimes made a killer paella dinner.Aiden became consumed with the case of her friend Regina, who was raped twice by the same man, with no useable evidence salvaged from either event. Mac agreed to let her take the case as her solo project, despite her personal involvement. He instructed her to be extremely diligent with her evidence, and give the defence nothing to go back on. While tempted to place a hair from the suspect DJ Pratt, on a piece of scene-linked clothing, Aiden refrained, knowing she could never live with herself. Upon discovering this, Mac was forced to fire her due to a breach of departmental ethics, though he promised her that Regina's file would not leave his desk until it was solved.Aiden remained close to her ex colleagues. She told Detective Stella Bonasera that she was studying for her private investigator's license, and that Stella would be her first call 'when it all came together'. What the CSI's did not know was that Aiden was tailing DJ Pratt alone, and collecting evidence.Aiden was killed after being lured to a scene by the thought of saving a potential victim, and then dragged into a car by DJ Pratt. Though Pratt killed her and later burned the car with her inside, to destroy the evidence, Aiden kept her wits about her enough to leave her own evidence: her teethmark impression in the door handle, and a bite on Pratt's arm that would remind Mac Taylor of one of her earlier cases.Pratt was finally arrested on charges that would stick, and it was implied that he would be compelled to give physical bio-samples that would link him to other crimes.While shocked and grieved, Aiden's ex colleagues took some comfort in knowing that they had completed her work and found her justice, of a sort. They later met to remember her over drinks together, and to tell their favourite Aiden stories. Show less «
