Wendy Bird's professional acting career began with the Equinox Theatre Company based in Newbury UK which she founded with Adam Thorpe in the early 1980s. In the tradition of popular travelling players she took on the roles of actor, singer and puppeteer. At the end of the decade she moved to Spain where she joined various street theatre groups, was involved in popular festivities, sometimes playing the violin, and took on film work as an extra.
