Valerie Hager is a SAG/AEA-AFTRA "not to be missed" (NoHo LA) actor, solo show writer, improviser, and movement artist. Her most celebrated solo show, Naked In Alaska: The Behind The Scenes True Story Of Stripping, has been performed over 60 times in three different countries reaching over 5,000 audiences members. It has had a very successful history in New York, receiving Time Out New York's four-star review, Critic's Pick, Best of OOB, and Top Weekend Pick, among many other four- and five-star reviews, profiles, and print and radio interviews internationally. Naked In Alaska has performed at a handful of prestigious venues including 59E59, The Barrow Group Theatre, as well as international theatre festivals, including winning Best Solo Show in the New York International Fringe, Audience Favorite in the Chicago Fringe, and Pick of the Edinburgh Fringe in a 27 show run at Assembly Roxy, in Scotland. Naked In Alaska was also the recipient of the 2015 Charles Sullivan Arts & Humanities Grant as well as last year being produced in Rome, Italy and this year one of the five chosen Featured Artist's to perform in the 24th annual Last Frontier Theatre Conference in Valdez, Alaska to a 400-seat theater.Valerie's earliest training came from her father, renown mime artist Jerry Hager, in the form of mime, movement, and the art of physical storytelling. Later, she has continued to train in mime and movement under master mime artist Rick Wamer-student of Marcel Marceau-at The School for Mime at Kenyon College and Lorin Salm at Mime Theatre Studio. and Lorin Salm at Mime Theatre Studio.She has appeared in film and TV including Warner Brothers' The Invention of Lying with Ricky Gervais, Comedy Central's Mind of Mencia, Discovery Channel's Guilty or Innocent, and was the lead in the award-winning short film The Harshest Place. Her theatrical performances include 59E59 Broadway, Dracula at Symphony Space, The Ensemble Workshop at LAByrinth Theater, Meet the Lady at 92Y, and many others. She studied dramatic acting under Ivana Chubbuck, Tony Greco, Karen Kohlhaas, Seth Barrish, The Atlantic Theater Company, LAByrinth Theater, Cinda Jackson of The Loft Studio. She studied dramatic writing in Jack Grapes's Method Writing Workshops, Cullen Thomas's Advanced Memoir Writing Workshop, and Matt Hoverman's Create Your Own Solo Show Workshops.Adept at comedy as much as drama, she has studied improv at Upright Citizen's Brigade (UCB), The People's Improv Theatre (PIT), Second City, and Bang Comedy Theatre.
