Tim Holmes was born in Lansing, Michigan. He grew up working in his family's flower shop. At age 18, immediately after graduating from high school, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. He was signed to MCA Records as a solo artist, T.C. Holmes. He parlayed his music contacts into an acting career, appearing in afternoon Soap Operas, B films and various other TV pilot projects. Tim took a 10 year sabbatical from the entertainment business during which time he became a firefighter, started a successful business, moved back to Michigan, got married and had twin boys. With the rise of the film industry in Michigan, Tim delved back into acting in 2009 and has had great success. He has spent a lot of time honing his craft and developing his acting and film making skills since that time. In 2011, Tim can be seen in Real Steel, Machine Gun Preacher, Hostel 3, S.W.A.T.: Firefight, and Street Kings 2: Motor City. In 2013 he will be seen in Oz: The Great and Powerful in the role of The Strongman. Show less «

Why would anyone want to be famous, certainly not me. My only goal in an acting career is to be able to work full time as an actor, filmmaker. When I get to that level, which I will, in this business where I can spend one hundred percent of my time honing my craft. Then I will be complete. As of now, I spend most of my time running my small business. To me spending your life doing what you love, is a gift. Everyone enjoys different walks of life, so find what you love to do and try to make a living at it. Even if I make less money it'd be worth it to me. Show less «

[on preparing to play The Strongman in Oz: The Great and Powerful (2013)] For my homework for the Strongman I met with Sam Raimi at Raleigh Studious in Michigan to talk about my character 1 month before shooting. Sam asked me in the nicest way, if I was going to work out at the gym for this role, I explained I have not worked out in over a year because my wife and I are raising are newborn twin boys right now, yet I will start training every day and continue during shooting. I weighed 220lbs when I started training. I got up to 245lbs by the end of shooting. I trained every day, sometimes twice a day. I did no cardio, only lifted heavy weights, ate everything I could think of, ice cream, steak, pasta, e.t.c., and spent a thousand dollars a month on weight gain powder, protein powder and 10 other things the huge guy at the health food store told me to take. Weighing that much was strange to adjust to. I bumped into walls in my home. I actually fell out the shower and broke the shower curtain rod. When I would tie my shoes I would be out of breath from bending over. I researched carnival strongmen and wanted to feel and look like one actually would during that time period, like a lumber jack who could toss a log or knock out a horse, and I did look like that in my eyes. I would walk around in costume all day, to lunch and all rehearsals, I had pictures of carnival strongman in my room and listened to heavy metal all day with my Bluetooth earphones as I read my favorite Uta Hagen book, then I would take out the headphones right before we shot our scenes. I even brought some dumbbells and a bench to my dressing room and left it there. I would train before I went to set at 5am and continued throughout the day in my dressing room. Those were some good times and a lot of bad but tasty food. I definitely feel better since I've lost the weight. Show less «

[on preparing to play Monty in Vegas-the CBS t.v. series (2012)] For my homework on the role of Monty, there was nothing needed in my character development from the motorcycle riding side of it. I used to build custom choppers at one time in my life as a business and I still have 5 motorcycles now. I rode over twenty thousand miles last year. I ride a lot and I simply can't wait for my boys to start riding with me when they get older. This show is set in the 60's, so I read books and researched any image I could find for Hell's Angels from that period. As well, I grew my beard out to a ridiculous length. During that time, I would constantly watch movies about biker guys from the 60's on my phone and every night before I crashed. I especially liked Marlon Brando in "The Wild One." I know it's before the 60's but that film was amazing and so was Brando in it. I actually had my biker crew in VEGAS copy one of the scenes background actions from that film for a scene we did. I showed it to them right before we shot the scene every time. Show less «
