Born in Tasmania, Australia, Sun was raised as a Hari Krishna until approximately age 10, when her parents began to move away from the religion. Sun has lived in Fiji as well as the Australian states of Tasmania, New South Wales, and Queensland, most recently settling in Brisbane, Queensland.Employed as a credit analyst for the past 6 years, Sun's interest in food is longstanding, beginning in childhood, where cooking food was seen as an offering to God, and communal meals were common. Due to her upbringing, Sun was a vegetarian until a trip to Paris in 2009, where she discovered meat, and made a decision to continue eating it.In 2011 Sun entered the third season of MasterChef Australia, hoping ultimately to use her Journalism degree in the food industry. Sun has so far progressed to the top 8 contestants in the competition (as at June 2011).
