Steve Tyler has been cast as the quintessential straight man by the Farrelly Brothers in more of their films than any other actor in Hollywood. He can be seen in Kingpin (1996); There's Something About Mary (1998); Me, Myself & Irene (2000); _Shallow Hal_; Stuck on You (2003); and most recently _The Three Stooges_. Other film roles include Boys Life 3 (2000), written and directed by Jason Gould, and River Made to Drown In (1997) starring Richard Chamberlinand Michael Imperioli. In 2000, he starred as Matthew Haines in The Journey of Jared Price (2000) -a coming-of-age film- written, produced and directed by Academy Award winner Dustin Lance Black (Milk (2008)). Julliard trained, Tyler has recurred in such popular television series as Desperate Housewives (2004), Days of Our Lives (1965) and General Hospital (1963).Tyler started his career modeling; his stint as the KOOL cigarette man, in the worldwide campaign, quickly defined his jocular charisma & wide-range appeal in the commercial marketplace. He has been seen in hundreds of television commercials & print campaigns - in both the United States and Latin markets. His ease in front of the camera also landed him a co-hosting stint on 'Evening Magazine (1976)'.As well known off screen as he is on, Tyler was the national spokesman for Big Brothers of America. A tireless advocate, volunteer and fundraiser for at-risk youth, animal welfare causes, Human Rights and Equality issues, Tyler was appointed to the California Council for the Humanities. Using his status as an established actor/activist, with over 40 theatrical productions to his credit, he has produced theatrical benefit events that include: Ellen DeGeneres LIVE In Concert, The Ellen DeGeneres Show benefit and Star-studded staged readings of Boys in the Band and Valley of the Dolls. In 1990 Tyler co-founded Playwrights' Arena, a celebrated non-profit theater company that discovers and nurtures LA Playwrights, artists and designers. Playwrights Arena and Tyler's own productions have been the recipient of numerous Drama awards for its original productions - many of which have gone on to premiere to critical acclaim off-Broadway. Tyler originated the roles of Jason Lawrence in "First Couple" at The Tiffany Theater and the role of Joseph Willacombe in "The Cats Meow" at The Coast which later became a film directed by Peter BogdonavichBorn in Brookline, Massachusetts and now a resident of Los Angeles, Tyler continues to be an effective force in philanthropic and political arenas. He has served as a board member and has produced and chaired over 150 benefit events in the State of California and DC for some of the most distinguished political candidates and human rights organizations in the U.S. His personal philanthropy and record-setting fundraising efforts have made him one of the top fundraisers in Los Angeles and the State of California.
