Born and raised in Lawton, Oklahoma. Shelli's mother and father were divorced when she was 5. She was raised by her mother along with her older brother, Rick, who is a black belt and police officer. Shelli worked as an Emergency Dispatcher in Lawton for 17 years. She met her husband Jed Fox while working for the Lawton Police Department. He was a police officer. They "got to know each other" on the radio, where Shelli dispatched Jed to police calls. After calling Jed to dispatch him to a call one evening, instead of responding the usual way, with his call sign and location, Jed responded "Your wish is my command." They had a long courtship that eventually culminated in marriage in 1998 and are still very happily married. They raised 4 children together: Jamison, Jeremiah, Robert and Austen. The boys were all born between 1983 and 1988. When the boys were all in high school, Jed and Shelli decided to adopt a small, lap dog so they went to local animal shelter to see what they had there. They had decided on a very small puppy. While at the shelter, a very large, adult Malamute caught Shelli's attention. They didn't take her then and decided to keep looking for a small dog. Two weeks later they still hadn't found the right dog so they went back to the shelter. Much to their surprise, the big adult dog was still there, she and Shelli seemed to "connect" and Shelli fell in love. There was an X on her description card, which Jed and Shelli found out meant they were going to "put her down" (euthanize) her that day and it was just by luck that she hadn't already been put to sleep. Needless to say, she went home with them that day. "Baby" was the first Malamute in the Fox household. When she passed away many years later, Jed and Shelli didn't think they could have another but after a few weeks of getting home and not being met by a beautiful black and white face, they decided to get another Malamute. Then another. Then another. At last count, they had a giant black and white male named Viggo (after Mortensen, of course!) Beauregard, a giant black and white female named Tiger Lillie Kissimmee but generally just called Lillie and a giant solid white male Malamute named Drago. They are as much a part of the family as any of the kids. In Jed and Shelli's spare time, which isn't much, they can be found crafting, making music, reading and watching movies together...sometimes all at the same time. "
