Shawn Hawkins is an actor and musician from Upstate New York. Now residing in Los Angeles, CA, he recently graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN with a B.A. in Theatre and a minor in Business Administration.While growing up in New York, Shawn spent over 5 years performing as a singer/songwriter for several different bands in the Upstate area. He started his musical career as lead guitarist and co-vocalist in the band, "Hailey and Shawn." The group's success led to tremendous opportunities throughout the New York area. With this experience now under his belt, Shawn joined a band featuring Tessa Dzuba and other professional musicians in the Binghamton area known as "Honeystruck", awarded the title as Binghamton's premiere country band. In college, Shawn joined with country artist Ben Whisler where he had the opportunity to record Ben's single, "Where the Moon Shines" as well as prep and perform two separate tours down the East Coast. The group also toured throughout the Nashville and Knoxville area.After realizing his passion for theatre and film acting, Shawn switched from a 2-year study of Music Business to the Theatre Department at Belmont University. Shawn worked diligently right out of the gate and carried many successes on the stage and in front of the camera. Within his first semester, Shawn was cast in the main stage plays, "Peter Pan" and "The Diary of Anne Frank." Shawn was also cast in a professional production of "Closer" that opened at Bongo Java After Hours Theatre with solid reviews in the Nashville area. Following his anticipated and highly versatile stage presence, Shawn pursued a wide variety of film projects that stretched his training and technique. He began working closely with Richard Gershman, chair member of the Watkins Film School, where he was able to learn the ropes in front of a camera weekly.Shawn prides himself greatly on his ability to work well with anyone and everyone as well as his dedication to the craft. He believes that the journey to each of his unique characters is well worth the time, exploration and discovery wielded along the way. With both his professionalism and comedic background Shawn continued to land projects such as cast member in the elite and highly anticipated Fall Follies, the campus' rendition of Saturday Night Live in his senior year.With his collegiate endeavors behind him now, Shawn continues collaborating with actors and filmmakers throughout Tennessee, New York and Los Angeles, which is granting him a wealth of new techniques and experiences. Now in his second year in Los Angeles, Shawn is auditioning weekly, prepping for a summer play, producing, writing and directing several short films as well as working closely with his production company, Red Vessel Entertainment to bring to life a range of feature film projects. He has already booked several national commercials, a WWII feature film, a handful of television guest-star roles and numerous short film projects. One short film was even selected for the 2016 Cannes Film Festival Short Film Corner in France. Shawn believes firmly that, "What we think is what we become; in that is endless possibility."Now under the representation of Deborah Graci and Kim Kamp with Talents Hunters Agency in Los Angeles and the Sharon Smith Talent Agency in Nashville, Shawn is developing his talent, building his resume and molding his brand in pursuit of a creatively fulfilling and lifelong career in the arts; continuing his endeavors in film, television, theatre and music.
