As a multi - ethnic, stand-up comedian, Shawn Felipe believes that comedy is derived from real life. Shawn always tries to find humor in various situations, even the toughest of struggles he has encountered so far in life. He believes God has blessed him, so that, regardless of the problems or challenges he faces, he can laugh at them and help others see the humor in them as well.Shawn was born in Victorville, Calif. but raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Theatrical Arts and TV production. Shawn's stand-up comedy acts have been featured on various networks, including "Worldasia TV," "AZN TV," "AZN TV," IA TV," "The Filipino Channel," "Sprint Comedy-Time Network" and "National Lampoon Comedy Radio."Besides his experience in stand-up comedy, Shawn also has forayed into the acting industry. He has appeared in TV shows, indie films and commercials- Budlight, Pizza Hut and Pocari Sweat, to name a few- and has guest starred in "Hawaii," NBC's cop TV series. Shawn has also performed with many acclaimed comedians such as Russell Peters, Anjelah Johnson and Jokoy.Shawn is passionate about his work in comedy, doing both private and corporate gigs including those of Budweiser, Kaiser Permanente, Hawaii Food Bank, and the American Cancer Society, as well as for military, various churches and college tours. His performances have earned him nominations for several prestigious awards, including "Best New Artist" at 2009 Hawaii Music Awards, "Best Take-Out Comic in Hawaii" and "Top 7th Comic at the 36th Annual International Comedy Competition in 2011.Based on demand, Shawn's live stand-up performances continue to extend worldwide from the U.S to Singapore, Canada, Japan, and the Middle East, as well as to universities nationwide. Most recently, Shawn and a team from Hawaii- "ALOHA PLATE"- casted in Season 4 of "The Food Network's No.2-ranked reality show, "The Great Food Truck Race." The season will premiering on Aug 18, 2013 - Finale on Sept 29 2013. The "ALOHA PLATE" food truck ended up winning the Season Four Competition-the finale of which was held in Washington, D.C--and Shawn and his team are currently starting up their own food truck business, with the goal of franchising and expanding their brand once they acquire more trucks. The Original "Aloha Plate" food truck that entered "The Great Food Truck Race" competition will stay in Los Angeles, CA.
