Guitarist/Actor Raffi Altounian's musical diversity has led him to a performing career that has included concert, television and radio performances throughout Canada and the U.S. as soloist, chamber musician and accompanist.Mr. Altounian is active as a recording artist, having appeared as soloist and chamber musician on the Centredisks, Naxos and Mel Bay Publications recording labels. Included in these recordings are collaborations with the Fracanapa Ensemble, the violin/guitar collaboration Duo Capriccio, a publication of solo blues pieces by composer William Beauvais, as well as a set of four quartets by the same composer. In all of these recordings, Mr. Altounian has explored a wide range of genres including classical, jazz, celtic, gypsy and latin music.Mr. Altounian studied guitar performance, pedagogy and composition at the Universities of Toronto and Montreal during his undergraduate years and at Florida State University for his graduate studies. Raffi Altounian's students have been accepted into professional musical institutions, universities and colleges and have been the recipients of Royal Conservatory awards, major scholarships at the university level and top prizes at national competitions.Raffi holds a Master (Florida State University) and Bachelor of Music (University of Toronto). He currently teaches guitar at The Royal Conservatory School of Music in Toronto, Canada.Raffi's acting credits include RoboCop (2014).
