Born in Budapest, Hungary, Foldy spent his formative years in Sydney Australia where he found work as a teen actor in TV commercials. After a family move to Canada, Foldy enrolled in film school at Toronto's York University. During this time he supported himself by playing guitar in a rock and roll band. When a up-and-coming Canadian label heard his original material, Foldy was signed to a recording contract and his first single, "Bondi Junction" was released. The record climbed to the top of the Canadian pop charts and Foldy was subsequently signed by EMI and later by RCA Records who moved him to Los Angeles. Once in L.A. Foldy began writing screenplays and quickly sold his second script, "Hot Moves" (1985). Foldy was hired as an Associate Producer on the production, re-igniting his interest in film. He directed his first feature, Midnight Witness (1992) after a chance meeting with veteran producer, Menahem Golan. He has recently completed a short film, "Head, Heart & Balls... or Why I Gave Up Smoking Pot starring Adam Carolla and is developing several new feature projects. A best of Peter Foldy CD called "Bondi Junction and Other Hits" has been released in Canada by Pacemaker Entertainment/EMI.
