Niko Red Star was conceived beneath a Christmas tree on the island of Oahu in Waipahu, Hawaii. He was born in a small country town in central California, to a Portuguese mother and a Russian father. She was a painter and his father designed technology for the military. His parents divorced very early in his childhood. His mother was forced to raise him and his two brothers on a meagerly artist's salary, which taught him how to stretch a dollar and instilled a strong work ethic and desire to do and be something greater than past generations. He began his acting career as a child feigning asthma attacks when his mother smoked cigarettes inside the house. It worked! She never smoked in the house around him again. From that moment on little Niko realized he had an ability to influence people with his abilities. However, he never had any intentions of pursuing a career in acting. Through fate, and after a difficult childhood, he was blessed with the opportunity to move to Dallas, Texas, where he learned how to play the upright bass in junior college, and received a full scholarship for music at Southern Methodist University. After completing his bachelors of music at S.M.U., he stumbled upon an acting opportunity through a friend and landed the role of R.P. McMurphy in One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest. He then realized that through theater and eventually the various aspects of film (acting, directing, and camera work), he could satiate his desire to create and more closely live up to the image in which he was created...while making a living. Red Star is working as a professional Upright Bassist, Actor, Director, and Producer, and an amateur Screenwriter, Composer, and Fight Choreographer in the DFW area. His future plans consist of marketing his several T.V. series, films scripts, playing Upright Bass, Mandolin, and singing in his band "The Southland Swing Band" and never retiring. He recently started the production company "Red Star E.P." to facilitate the production of his various projects.
