Nicholas Schrunk is an award-winning feature film and commercial director focusing on action and adventure sport storytelling. With a diverse filmmaking career including camera operation, directing photography and feature film production, Schrunk has an extensive understanding and hands-on approach to the filmmaking craft. Utilizing his diverse background, Schrunk combines his reason-driven interest in science with traditional visual design. The result is an awe-inspiring collection of work that illustrates stories that are both visually and emotionally moving.Schrunk's work infuses heavy visual direction into a hearty dose of documentary style. It's though a combination of breathtaking visuals and an unconventional observational filming style that he tells stories. At the heart of his work however, is a passion for storytelling. "I love documenting stories where the outcome isn't clear at the beginning of the project, where you have to peel back the layers, experiencing the story as it happens," he said. "Removing the barrier between filmmaking and the genuine story is the space that I like to work in."He most recently directed the award-winning documentary feature, "Blood Road," which follows Rebecca Rusch's journey on the Ho Chi Minh Trail in search of the place where her father lost his life when he was shot down during the Vietnam War. "Blood Road" won Best of Fest at the Bentonville Film Festival and the Audience Award at the Sun Valley Film Festival. As the creative director at Red Bull, Schrunk uses his passion for film to develop, direct and produce stories for their commercials and feature films. He won the 2014 Webby award for best online sports film for his skateboard film "Perspective" and premiered the film "On Any Sunday: The Next Chapter" at the prestigious San Sebastian Film Festival.
