Nat Cassidy in an award-winning playwright, director, and actor, and a sandwich-winning musician. Born in North Carolina in 1981, and raised in the deserts of Phoenix, Arizona, he received his BFA in Acting/Directing from the University of Arizona in 2004. A few months thereafter he relocated to New York thanks to a Professional Potential grant given to him by his university, for which he was the first-ever recipient. He resides in Brooklyn.As an actor, Nat has been seen onstage at venues such as Lincoln Center, Cherry Lane, The Public, SoHo Playhouse, Classic Stage Company's East 13th Street Theatre, The Arclight, 59E59, Theatre Row, P.S. 122, Manhattan Theatre Source, The Gallery Players, 45th Street Theatre, The Players Theatre, The Players Club, and many others.Since 2008, Nat has become known as one of New York City's most exciting young playwrights, with a reputation for producing bold, intelligent, darkly comic plays. His work has been seen at New York venues such as LaMaMa ETC, Theatre Row, The Players Theatre, The Players Club, The WorkShop Theatre, The Gallery Players, and Manhattan Theatre Source, as well as theatres ranging from Los Angeles to Tulsa to the UK.Nat's scripts include: The Reckoning of Kit & Little Boots (winner, New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Full-Length Script, 2009); I Am Providence (winner, New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Solo Performance, 2011); Any Day Now; The Eternal Husband; Songs of Love: A Theatrical Mixtape; Joy Junction; TALHOTBLOND; Goldsboro; Old Familiar Faces; and many others.In 2012, Nat was commissioned by The Kennedy Center to write the libretto for a new opera with composer Scott Perkins as part of the inaugural American Opera Initiative. Nat was named one of nytheatre.com's 2011 People of the Year for his contribution to the NY independent theatre scene.
