Michael Sean Means (Mike) was born in Dallas Texas to Dianna and Quentin Means. He showed an appreciation and gift for music very early in his youth. At age 8, he moved with his parents to Lame Deer, Montana, where he began taking piano lessons. His piano teacher stated that she appreciated Mike's determination and diligence as far as practicing, but was unaware that he actually practiced very little (in spite of having a piano available). Mike had a knack for playing by ear, and initially resisted learning to read music.During preproduction of PowWow Highway, Mike responded to a casting call for young native males. He was chosen to play the part of young Buddy Redbow, because it was reported that he had a strong resemblance to A Martinez as a youth. Mike's acting career was limited to the one production because he had no aspirations to become an actor, and decided not to join SAG. He determined instead to focus on his music and singing and eventually learned to play guitar and read music.As a young adult, Mike played small venues and open mikes in the Billings and Bozeman Montana area. For a time, it was not uncommon to find Mike playing at the Leaf and Bean (currently owned by Kate Miller) in Bozeman, and Art Space in Billings.Mike moved to Seattle, Washington, to be with his fiancé, and married her soon after. Mike continued to play in Seattle, but not to the degree he did in Montana. His focus was more on family and his career with SOG Specialty Knives. Unfortunately the marriage did not last and Mike decided to return to Montana. Mike's new found freedom allowed him to focus on his music once again and he reconnected with a long time friend who soon became hi second wife. In less than a year they announced the coming of a new addition to the family and in a few months a baby girl was born. His wife's support of his music has given him the time to dedicate to his music, and he has begun setting up a music studio in his home. Show less «
