Michèle Cannon is an actress, writer, director, producer and a graduate of Case Western Reserve University with a BA-Theater Arts. While in Cleveland, OH, she was a member of the famed Karamu Professional Theater Company where she appeared in leading roles over five years. Upon graduation, she relocated to Atlanta, GA to join the Alliance Theater Umbrella Players touring company and also danced with the Barbara Sullivan Dance Theater. She also performed with the Just Us Players and found time to participate in the Miss Black Atlanta Pageant winning 2nd place. With her Equity card in hand, she went to New York City where she has been performing extensively in Off-Off Broadway productions. Michèle has completed two runs in Theater For The New City/Xoregos Production "Songs of the Harlem River," appeared in "The Runaway" in the 2016 New York Fringe Festival and garnered rave reviews for her work in "Calico and Lena" and "Soul Gone Home" also at Theater For The New City. Most recently, she played the role of Rose in "The Withering Rose" at the Hudson Guild Theater. She has featured credited roles in "The Irishman" and "Bad Education." In addition to acting, she is an accomplished writer and producer. Her short film, "Meri, Mary, Mari" won the Best Trailer Award in the "Kwanzaa International Film Festival" and her horror-rom/com, "Zombae" is presently in-development. Michèle has written numerous screenplays and plays; Dominant Players optioned by LA based Broadmind Entertainment received extensive studio attention. Dominant Players has been revamped as a web series. Her absurd social satire comedy, "Absconder Unit" was acquired by director, Gene Patterson. Preview episodes can be viewed on YouTube. Michèle's critically acclaimed play, "Moot Point" - The Trial of Jesus was produced by the Christian Cultural Center, Brooklyn, NY. In 2016, Michèle produced the highly acclaimed Dream Festival production at Theater For The New City, "About Clarence & Me." "Harlem Slang," her one-act adaptation based upon the "language" of Zora Neale Hurston premiered at Theater For The New City in February 2017. Michèle placed as a screenplay finalist in the 2015 Harlem International Film Festival with "Poochie and Lil Bit" and in the Austin Film Festival Pitch Competition with "34 Stars." Poochie and Lil Bit placed in the 2016 Stage32/Happy Writers Feature Film Contest. Her screenplay, "Fried Eggs" advanced to the quarterfinalist round of the 2018 ScreenCraft Drama Contest. Michèle is passionate about arts education and privately coaches Young Performers with a unique teaching model that she create called "The System" Many of her students are working on Broadway, television and film. She is the founder and CEO of Infinite Intel Productions LLC, Michaiah Enterprises, LLC and Michaiah Beauty LLC. She is looking forward to expanding her horizons by working nationally and internationally.
