Michael Anthony Imperiale Born in Brooklyn New York. Music & Film Producer/Recording Artist/Songwriter/ Musician/ActorLike Memphis in the 50's and Swinging London in the 60's, 1970's New York City became the creative hub that gave birth to the likes of The Ramones, Blondie, Lou Reed and the Velvet Underground. Music that along with the hardcore R&B Soul Music of the time, ie: James Brown, Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes and Marvin Gaye, pollinated in the minds of young artists across the city and would eventually germinate in the minds of those city kids who changed the world with the invention/revolution called Hip Hop.It was in this world, within an area in Manhattan called The Lower East Side, where Michael Imperiale was raised to parents struggling with physical handicaps. The love of his grandparents, who would eventually raise him, allowed him to find the strength he would need to express what would become his passion...music.Gifted with a voice that borrowed from the great soul singers he admired such as Teddy Pendergrass, David Ruffin etc, and armed with songwriting skills and lyrics influenced by the many poets and playwrights who would perform their craft at the famous Nuyorican Poets Café only blocks away from his home, artists like The Last Poets, Gil Scott Heron and his 2nd uncle, legendary New York Playwright & Poet Miguel Pinero, Michael forged head on.His ability to play most instruments including, guitar, piano and bass, led to a publishing deal with EMI Music Publishing and his first professional band, Hell's Kitchen NYC. A band that went on to open for such explosive bands as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Living Color and Jane's Addiction, to name just a few. Michael would later sign a recording contract offered to him by Walter Yetnikoff, the music guru responsible for the success of Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Cyndi Lauper and countless others.Michael Imperiale's unique artistic path, along with his many hardships have led him to the artist he is right now. A master of his own musical path along with acting abilities that led him to be cast as a principle character in HBO's "How To Make It In America". The film industry clearly now open to him, will allow him to use all of his talents, along with screenwriting, a new ability he discovered with his talented filmmaking wife Dashia Imperiale.Next year for the first time Film Festivals around the world will see, "Little Angel" an independent motion picture he's produced, and written. Directed by his wife. The film features what is undoubtedly his greatest passion.... his music.
