Matthew is the son of Frank and Rosemarie DeCapua and was born and raised in Connecticut. He attended the Daniel Hand High School in his hometown of Madison, where he went out for the school plays after encouragement from his mother. After prodding from his brother Mark he convinced the coolest kids he knew (John Thomas, Chris Guerette and Mike Stutzman) to form a student-run comedy club. He also began acting in backyard VHS movies directed by future filmmaker Jack Lilburn and future novelist Mike Attebery. Now under the full control of legendary drama coach Tom Peterson, the school drama club gave him a second chance, and he flourished. His father, a noted golfer, declared after seeing a performance that Matthew "could do this."He attended college at the University of Connecticut (BFA Acting, summa cum laude), where he wrote a weekly humor column for the school paper, "The Daily Campus."Matthew now lives in New York City. In addition to his film and television credits Matthew has worked extensively in the theatre, and has been seen in many national and regional commercials. He studies with Joan Rosenfels (acting), Chloe Wing (Alexander Technique), and Pamela Prather (voice).
