Matthew made his professional debut playing the lead role of Frankie Valli in the Australian production of the internationally acclaimed musical 'Jersey Boys' in 2011, landing the role straight after graduating from the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). He has been hailed by the Sydney Morning Herald as one of their 'Hot List Stars' and one of CULT Magazine's 'Faces to Watch'. He has worked with some of Australia's leading theatre companies including Sydney Theatre Company ('Machinal' 2013, 'Orlando' 2015, 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' 2016), Bell Shakespeare ('Henry V' 2014, 'The Tempest' 2015), Belvoir St Theatre ('Kill the Messenger' 2015), Griffin Theatre ('Ladies Day', 2016) and Queensland Theatre Company ('Brisbane' 2015, 'Switzerland' 2016). Matthew starred as Posner in 'The History Boys' at the Sydney Opera House and was co-host of the children's television program 'History Hunters', which aired in Australia on 7TWO and ABC3, and also in Canada, South Korea and the UK. He was one of the founding members of the popular online sketch-comedy collective I'm With Stupid, most recently seen on ABC iView's 'Fresh Blood'. Other TV credits include 'Deadly Women'. His short film credits include 'Whispers Among Wolves' (Flickerfest, Sydney Film Festival, Palms Springs Film Festival, Hollywood Film Festival) 'Chicom', 'Oiling Point' and 'Latte e Miele'. Matthew has studied improvisation at the Upright Citizen's Brigade and the People's Improv Theatre in New York and at Second City in Los Angeles. He was the winner of a 2016 Broadway World Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for his performance as Puck in Sydney Theatre Company's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream'.
