From there his career took him to WCIV-TV in Charleston, South Carolina, then WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas where he was the morning and noon meteorologist and fill-in co-host of "Good Morning Texas". From there Mathis went KTBC-TV in Austin, Texas, then to San Diego and KSWB-TV as Chief Meteorologist. The last two stops were San Antonio and WCCB-TV in Charlotte, North Carolina, where he co-hosted "Fox News Edge" Nightly and had his own comedy show at the Comedy Zone.
