Marjorie Jean Kirkland was born in Montgomery, Alabama, to the Honorable James H. Anderson, Circuit Judge in Montgomery County, and Elizabeth Snow Cutright. At the age of five, her mother moved to New Zealand. At the age of eighteen, Marjie relocated to New Zealand to study various forms of art. Upon her return to the United States, she opened up a yoga studio, MJ Yoga, in Montgomery, Alabama, where she led classes for over a decade, seven days a week. Marjie did CNN commercials and various tear sheet work as well. During the last years of running the studio she started "Your Yoga Gym," a YouTube channel. Son of the South is her first movie appearance as the Bag lady who shows up in a predominate scene.
