Aside from numerous appearances in sketches, singing troupes, and bands, Kirt Purdy's first serious charge to the stage was in 1985 as Fagin in a musical adaptation of "Oliver!". Since that time, he has performed across Canada in a variety of playhouses, and in a plethora of styles. While teaching in Alberta, Kirt continued to pursue his dream of acting in film and television by traveling to Vancouver in the summer months to audition for student productions and independent films. This tenacity paid off, as he gained six roles in ten auditions, including two independent feature films.Kirt was an active member of a community theatre company in Alberta, and worked backstage on other plays, and performed in three. His leading role as "Alex" in "The Other Side of the Pole", written by Stephen Heatley, was met with critical acclaim. While in Alberta, Kirt trained with a local radio station to hone his voice over ability, and recorded a handful of commercials. To keep his writing and improvisation abilities sharp, Kirt began a home-based business that would provide tailor-made Murder Mysteries for his clients. He would write the mystery, coach the actors, then act as the host for the event. Some of his extremely satisfied clients include: Camrose City Police, The Camrose Chamber of Commerce, TD Canada Trust, and Alberta Treasury Branch. With the knowledge that a career in film and television would necessitate a move to Vancouver, Kirt completed his contract with his school district, sold his house, and moved west. He has also been cast in a recurring role on the new TV series "Tide Waters". Kirt also booked an actor role on "Fifty Shades of Grey"; a conversation one-on-one with Dakota Johnson.
